About

I am a mom to a dyslexic child. I never imagined becoming a dyslexia tutor until my own child started struggling with reading, spelling, and writing.  I found an Orton-Gillingham based program to use and that was the beginning of understanding for him.

Previously, I volunteered and became certified in an Orton-Gillingham program through a local non-profit organization.  Eventually, I wanted to help children in my own community. That is when I found Susan Barton and The Barton Reading and Spelling System.

Susan Barton is an internationally recognized expert in the field of dyslexia and she developed her own program, which is one of the best Orton-Gillingham programs available.

After 15 years of using an Orton-Gillingham program, I discovered Structured Linguistics Literacy (SLL) also known as Speech to Print or Linguistics Phonics which is built on recognizing speech and emphasizes sound to spelling correlation. You can find out more here about the difference in speech to print vs print to speech programs.

My goal is to empower and encourage every child that I tutor. Children with dyslexia are extremely bright kids who struggle with reading, spelling, and writing. I am here to bridge that gap.
